Camping Ministry is the Ministry of the Church— It‘s that time of year again when summer provides the opportunity for your youth to participate in your Conference, District or Church’s summer camp program. With so many choices for your youth during the summer, one might ask “Why Sumer Camp? “ As I looked at different articles around this topic, I realized that the American Camp Association (ACA) provides research that shows that the camping experience results in outcomes that we desire in ministry as we build disciples. In our United Methodist camps spirituality and faith foundation is added into the camping experience and shapes the proven outcomes of: community, compassion, contribution, commitment and character. “For years, campers’ parents have reported that when their campers return home from camp they are more caring, understand the importance of giving, and are more equipped to stand up for what they know is right, and are willing to be more responsible”.
